Welcome to R0d3nts!
We understand that a game with a lot of mechanics can be intimidating to a new player, but fear not! You can participate in the basic parts of the game without knowing anything. Here is a quick guide to get your started.
All of the different pet types available in this shop are referred to as r0d3nts. At this time, there are only rat-type r0d3nts available, but that may change in the future.
The appearance of each r0d3nt is controlled by it’s genetics. You only need to know about genetics if you want to try and breed for specific traits. You can learn more about genetics in our Genetics Guide!
Each r0d3nt also has three stats (Smarts, Speeds, and Staminas) that they use to interact with the various games. You can learn more about how stats and games work in our Stats Guide and EXP Games Guide. If you only want to collect r0d3nts, and don’t care about competing them, you don’t need to worry about these.
R0d3nts can be obtained through games, giveaways, and sales. You can learn about when they are available by following the announcements on our Discord Server.
Although we run things on Basilisk Stew and Gaiaonline as well, the only place you need to be to participate in R0d3nts is on our Discord Server. That is where you will be able to obtain new pets, level up your r0d3nts, and find other people to play with.
Once you have joined the Discord, follow the instructions given as part of the welcome message to begin playing. If you have any questions, one of our staff or experienced players will be happy to assist you!
Every new player gets a free r0d3nt just for signing up! So you will be able to play almost immediately.
Make a Lab Thread
The first thing we recommend a new player does is figure out how they are going to track their r0d3nts’ progress. Although we keep an and , it is up to you to track your r0d3nt’s experience gains. You are welcome to track it however you like, but we recommend making a “lab thread” in either our Basilisk Stew Group or Gaiaonline Guild.
Create a Handler OC
In the universe of R0d3nts, all r0d3nts are owned and cared for by human (or human-ish) handlers. You can consider yourself the handler of your r0d3nts, or you could create an OC to be your handler! You may have as many or as few handler characters as you would like, although all per-player restrictions are per real life player not per handler character. Check out our Research Projects Guide to learn more about our roleplay setting.
Play Some Games
Every day you have the option to run one of your r0d3nts through training games on either our Basilisk Stew or Gaiaonline forums. Those are the primary way to earn EXP for levelling up your r0d3nts. Check out EXP Games Guide to learn more about how those work.
